Vango Colorado 600 DLX – Design

The Vango Colorado 600 DLX is a tunnel tent design with 3 sleeping areas and a large living area in the dome.  It comes in two sizes, the 600 DLX, a 6 man tent and the 800 DLX an 8 man tent.  Both tents have 3 sleeping areas arranged 2-2-2 for the 600 DLX and 2-4-2  for the 800 DLX.  Apart from the obvious accommodation differences between the two tents the main difference between the 800 DLX is that it is 70cm longer.  This means that the sleeping area directly opposite the entrance can now accommodated 4 people rather than just the two in the DLX.  However, we at Tents Camping believe that this may be a bit of a squeeze for the four and we suggest that this may be an ideal sleeping area for mum and dad with plenty of room for luggage and stuff.

Vango Tents have listened to comments about their tent and have now improved the Colorado from previous years and from 2009 it will have a fully sewn-in 10,000mm HH groundsheet which will definitely improve the comfort and stop the wee beasties from coming in.  We also like that their are two access points, the main one at the front of the tent and the other one in the rear in the third bedroom, both have fine mesh doors which is great for stopping midges and mosquitoes.

The Vango Colorado is erected fly-sheet first which means that the interior stays dry when erecting the tent in the rain.  Pitching the Colorado is made easier through the clever colour coding of the poles and sleeves.

Vango Colorado 600 DLX -performance

The fly sheet of the Vango Colorado is made from fire retardant Protex 3000 durable polyester material.  This gives the tent a 3000mm hydrostatic head protection which coupled with the sealed seams ensures that the tent will stand up to the worst the British weather can throw at it.  Hydrostatic head (HH) is a  measurement of the fabrics ability to to stop a column of water from penetrating it.  In this case it can stop a column of water 3 metres high which makes it very waterproof.  So the higher the HH value the more your tent will be able to remain waterpoof in wet stormy weather conditions.

The Vango Colorado 600DLX has cleverly placed vents which allows a good air flow in the tent, essential in stopping condensation build up.  Other features include ‘Crystal Clear’ windows with internal covers, Powerflex pre-angled fibreglass poles,   skylight panels, double zip windows, adjustable twin vents on porch, hanging organizer and inner pockets,  saddle bag style carry bag, cable entry point and a repair kit.
